A Musical Monday Meditation

"How sweet the sound"

Few hymns are as recognizable—or as illustrative of the power of redemption—as the timeless tune “Amazing Grace,” as I wrote in my August 2024 post. While the cello sings the opening melody in the above video clip, bring to mind the following lyrics—as true today as when they were written in the 18th century because they are rooted in God’s everlasting promise of restoration:

Amazing grace (how sweet the sound)
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.
